Introduction
Welcome to the ideaparachute blog!
I'm Tillmann Stieger, the founder of ideaparachute offering services and consulting for intellectual property (IP) strategy and management. Whether you're a small or medium-sized business (SMB), a start-up, or a larger corporation, my expertise is directed towards helping you navigate the realm of intellectual property.
Through this blog, I aim to share my observations on innovation and IP, offering thought-provoking pieces. I will always try to generate a link to the underlying business as it is my passion to bridge the gap between IP and business goals.
Patent strategy and IP management
The primary goal of this blog is to provide insights into patent strategy and IP management while offering actionable solutions or at least starting points for your journey. However, please note that the posts are not a substitute for legal advice on specific matters. Instead, they serve as inspiration to initiate conversations or collaborations. To effectively discuss IP in connection with business strategy, I believe in simplifying complex legal subjects, using plain English to make the content accessible to as many people as possible. While the main language of the blog will be English to include a wide audience, I am a native German speaker and will always try to provide an acceptable translation into German. I am more than happy to discuss topics in German as well.
To keep the blog concise and focused, I will strive to maintain shorter posts. In this introductory post, I'd like to share a bit about myself and my interests.

Growing up, I developed a strong curiosity for natural sciences. Eventually, I pursued a degree in Chemistry. However, during my studies, I discovered a greater interest in theory and modeling rather than laboratory work. This led me to gradually shift my focus to physics, where I pursued my doctorate in theoretical physics.
Like many in the intellectual property field, I stumbled upon the profession, in my case through a good friend. My journey began in technology transfer for the academic sector and gradually transitioned to in-house counsel in the industry. Given the opportunity to take on significant responsibilities from the start, I had the freedom to shape the content and processes of my work.
Business-centric approach to intellectual property
Colleague feedback highlighted the value of my pragmatic and business-centric approach to IP work. By striking a balance between creativity and structured work with defined milestones, I was able to help build valuable IP portfolios. Over the past year, the desire to further develop a business-oriented IP strategy and management approach grew within me, leading me to establish ideaparachute. When I'm not immersed in IP-related matters, I love to play tennis. I‘m music enthusiast and proudly possess a substantial collection of rare records. Many of these records have been acquired during my global travels, which I simply can't get enough of. Additionally, I am an avid stock market enthusiast and enjoy reading books on investing, business stories, and company reports. I consider myself a value investor and enjoy hunting for bargains.
If you'd like to discuss specific subjects or explore potential partnerships, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm always happy to chat and engage in meaningful conversations.
